UP Headmistress Accused of Hitting Guardian With Shoe Over Transfer Certificate Dispute

The CSR Journal Magazine

A recent incident at a primary school in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district has gone viral, following a video capturing the headmistress, Anita Devi, striking a guardian with her shoe. The 34-second clip reveals a confrontation during a heated discussion about the issuance of a Transfer Certificate (TC) for a student. The altercation reportedly took place at Tika Ka Pura Primary School in the Muratganj block.

The exchange began when the guardian, identified as Anuj, visited the school to collect the TC for his child. According to reports, the headmistress insisted that both the child and the Aadhaar card be presented at the school prior to processing the certificate. Anuj contended that he had already submitted the required Aadhaar card, leading to a verbal disagreement.

The viral footage captures the escalating argument, highlighting Anuj’s insistence that he had fulfilled all necessary requirements. While another individual filmed the exchange, he provocatively encouraged the headmistress to continue her aggressive behaviour. The atmosphere became tense, with the filming contributing to the situation’s escalation.

Altercation Escalates to Physical Confrontation

As the argument intensified, reports indicate that the headmistress felt distressed upon realising the incident was being recorded. Allegedly, she took the guardian’s mobile phone and threw it to the ground. During this moment of turmoil, a struggle ensued as Anuj attempted to reclaim his device, resulting in a physical confrontation. During this scuffle, it was reported that the headmistress fell to the ground.

Immediately after falling, the headmistress was seen removing her footwear and striking Anuj repeatedly, all while bystanders watched the incident unfold. The video, which has since gained significant attention on social media, portrays the alarming escalation of what was initially a verbal complaint regarding school administration procedures.

Local officials have acknowledged the gravity of the incident, prompting an official response from the district education authorities. Kamlendra Kushwaha, Basic Education Officer, confirmed the event’s occurrence and stated that the matter has been referred to the Block Education Officer for further investigation.

Investigation and Response from Education Authorities

Kushwaha emphasised that the district education authorities are taking the situation seriously and a detailed inquiry into the incident is currently underway. He reiterated that both parties had reported to the local police station and that discussions are ongoing regarding a potential mutual apology. However, further details on the investigation have yet to be disclosed.

Officials highlighted that the inquiry will aim to uncover all pertinent facts surrounding the event, including the sequence of actions that led to the physical altercation. As this situation continues to unfold, actions taken by the Block Education Officer will determine the next steps following the submission of the inquiry report.

The situation underscores the need for measures to address conflicts in educational settings effectively, thereby ensuring that such incidents can be managed without leading to physical confrontations. The community and parents are likely to remain attentive to the outcome of this investigation and any subsequent actions taken by the education authorities.
