Udit Narayan’s First Wife Alleges Non-Consensual Uterus Removal

The CSR Journal Magazine

Singer Udit Narayan is facing serious allegations from his first wife, Ranjana Narayan Jha, who has lodged a complaint at the Women’s Police Station in Supaul, Bihar. Ranjana, along with her lawyer Karunakant Jha, made the complaint on Tuesday, asserting that her uterus was surgically removed without her consent as part of a criminal conspiracy involving Narayan, his two brothers, and his second wife, Deepa Narayan. Ranjana stated that she only became aware of this surgery years after it occurred while receiving medical treatment.

Details of the Allegations

In her complaint, Ranjana, who is 61 years old and the daughter of Chandrakant Jha, reported that she married Udit Narayan on December 7, 1984, in accordance with Hindu customs. She claimed that Udit relocated to Mumbai in 1985 to advance his music career. Ranjana further alleged that she later discovered through media outlets that Udit had married Deepa Narayan. She stated that whenever she confronted him about this matter, he misled her consistently.

Claims of Non-Consensual Surgery

Ranjana detailed an incident from 1996, alleging that under the guise of seeking medical care, Udit Narayan and his brothers, Sanjay Kumar Jha and Lalit Narayan Jha, took her to a hospital in Delhi where her uterus was removed without her informed consent. She claimed that Deepa Narayan was also present during this procedure.

Continued Allegations of Abuse

Ranjana recounted an experience in 2006 when she visited Mumbai, stating that she was verbally abused and denied entry to Udit Narayan’s home. Following this, she traveled to her in-laws’ residence in Nepal, only to be insulted and turned away. Since that time, she alleges she has been forced to live with her parents.

Previous Legal Actions

Ranjana indicated that she has previously pursued legal action in the Family Court in Supaul and has approached the Women’s Commission for assistance. She mentioned that Udit Narayan had acknowledged her as his wife in earlier court proceedings and had submitted a compromise petition. Despite this, she alleges that she has not received the respect or support she expected since then.

Investigation Underway

The officer in charge of the Women’s Police Station, Anju Tiwari, acknowledged that the alleged incidents occurred approximately thirty years ago. She confirmed that the case is under investigation and that a First Information Report (FIR) will be filed based on the results of the ongoing inquiry.
