Two Minor Girls Go Missing In Delhi, Concerns Raised Over Women’s Safety

The CSR Journal Magazine

A political storm erupted in the national capital on Thursday after two incidents involving minor girls in Shalimar Bagh, the Assembly constituency of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, prompted fresh concerns over women’s safety and law and order.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held the government accountable, alleging that even in the Chief Minister’s own constituency, children are not secure.

One Girl Escapes Alleged Kidnap Attempt

According to details shared by AAP leaders, a minor girl who had gone for tuition in the morning was allegedly drugged by unknown persons in an apparent abduction attempt. The girl reportedly inhaled an intoxicating substance from a cloth and lost consciousness before being taken away on a rickshaw.

She later regained partial consciousness and raised an alarm, drawing the attention of bystanders. Locals intervened, forcing the suspected abductors to flee, and ensured that the girl was safely escorted home.

Her mother claimed the child was being taken towards Rohini while in a drugged condition and appealed to parents to remain vigilant, urging them to personally accompany children to coaching classes.

Another Minor Still Missing

In a separate case, another minor girl who had gone to school earlier in the day had not returned home and remained untraceable at the time of reporting. Authorities have launched efforts to locate the missing student.

AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj warned residents to stay alert and keep a close watch on children, calling the situation alarming.

Party volunteers who visited the survivor described her as “brave” and stressed the urgent need for action against gangs allegedly targeting women, children and elderly citizens.

Police Reject Claims Of Panic

Delhi Police, however, dismissed claims of a widespread surge in missing girls, stating that such reports were being amplified through paid promotions to create unnecessary panic.

Officials said investigations were underway into the incidents and warned that strict action would be taken against those spreading rumours for financial gain.

Despite the police clarification, opposition leaders continue to press the government on safety concerns, citing reports that hundreds of people, many of them women and children, have gone missing in the city in recent weeks.

The developments have reignited debate over public safety in the national capital, with political parties trading accusations while families anxiously await concrete action.
