Two Men Injured After Car Skids Off Rain-Soaked Road in Mussoorie

The CSR Journal Magazine

Two men sustained injuries after their vehicle lost control and veered off a slippery road in Mussoorie late on Sunday night. This incident occurred along the Dhoodhli route, where adverse weather conditions were reported due to recent rainfall. The car, which bore a Delhi registration number, skidded on the slick surface and ended up entangled in a tree, rather than tumbling into a ditch.

Residents of Dhoodhli village noted that the two men had apparently become disoriented while travelling. The slippery road conditions, caused by the rain, played a significant role in the accident, allowing the car to slide off the intended path.

In a concerning development, the pair reportedly remained at the scene throughout the night. Local residents discovered the vehicle in the morning and promptly alerted the police. The authorities responded quickly, arriving at the site to rescue the injured individuals.

Victims Rescued and Receiving Treatment

The injured men were transported to the Sub-Divisional Hospital via an ambulance service, where they are currently receiving medical attention. As of now, specific details regarding their identities and health condition have not been disclosed by the authorities.

Law enforcement officials have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. They aim to determine the factors that contributed to the vehicle losing control, ensuring that all pertinent details are thoroughly examined.

Community members have expressed concerns regarding the dangers associated with the Dhoodhli route. The area features steep inclines and several sections lacking adequate safety measures, such as railings, which are crucial for preventing accidents.

Calls for Improved Road Safety Measures

Local residents emphasised that the risk of accidents increases significantly during the monsoon season due to the damp conditions that render the road slippery, particularly in its steep areas. They have repeatedly urged authorities to implement safety enhancements, including the installation of railings at critical points along the route.

The latest incident has reignited discussions about the need for better safety infrastructure on this roadway during the rainfall period. Many locals feel that concrete measures are essential to reduce the likelihood of vehicles straying off the road.

As the police continue their investigation, it is expected that findings will reveal more insights into the accident’s cause. Community members are hopeful that greater awareness regarding road safety will prompt necessary actions from the relevant authorities to protect future travellers.
