Two Held in Uttam Nagar for Milk and Curd Theft, Operation Dismantled

The CSR Journal Magazine

Delhi’s Anti-Narcotics Squad has successfully dismantled a gang involved in the theft of milk and curd in the Uttam Nagar locality, with two individuals apprehended during the operation. This development comes after a video depicting the thefts gained widespread attention on social media, prompting police involvement.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohit, known as Patha, and Ayush Maan Pandey, known as Pandit. The police received a tip-off regarding their whereabouts on April 3, indicating that they were scheduled to meet with an accomplice in Shiv Vihar, Vikas Nagar. Officers consequently established a surveillance operation at the meeting location.

As the suspects arrived in a three-wheeled vehicle, law enforcement managed to apprehend them. Upon inspection, police discovered 14 empty milk crates within the vehicle. Additionally, the men failed to provide any ownership documentation for the three-wheeler, which was later identified as stolen from the Prem Nagar area.

Modus Operandi of the Gang

Investigations revealed that the gang operated primarily by shadowing milk delivery vehicles. They would seize the crates of milk and curd soon after they were deposited at shops and residences, making off with the items before being noticed. The gang then sold these pilfered goods at milk supply points located in Dabri and Bindapur.

Mohit, one of the suspects, has a substantial criminal record, with the inclusion of over 38 cases related to theft and snatching. He had only recently completed a prison term, having been released in February 2026. His associate, Ayush Maan Pandey, also resides in the Ranhola area, which further links the individuals to this criminal activity.

Further investigations into the stolen milk and curd reveal that such thefts have become increasingly common. The police are attempting to track down additional members of the gang, as well as to determine the extent of their operations in the region.

Recent Crackdown on Illicit Pharmaceutical Trade

In a separate but significant operation, the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has uncovered an extensive racket involving the illegal sale of medications intended for free distribution in government hospitals. Five individuals have been taken into custody, one of whom worked as an insider in a local hospital.

Authorities have reported that this gang systematically diverted life-saving medicines meant for patients receiving treatments under government schemes and sold them for profit instead. This action has raised ethical concerns about the distribution of critical healthcare resources.

During this recent operation, police recovered a substantial inventory of medications valued at approximately ₹70 lakh. The seized drugs include high-cost items such as Meropenem, Ceftriaxone, and Rabies Antiserum; all are crucial for treating severe medical conditions and are strictly allocated for free provision within the government healthcare framework.
