The White House on Wednesday issued a stark warning to Iran, stating that US President Donald Trump is prepared to dramatically escalate military action if Tehran refuses to accept a deal to end the ongoing conflict.
Speaking during a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt asserted that Trump’s position should not be underestimated, declaring, “President Trump does not bluff and he is prepared to unleash hell.”
White House Issues Strongest Warning Yet
Leavitt said the US administration believes Iran has already suffered significant military setbacks and must now recognise what she described as the “reality of the current moment.” She warned that failure to do so would invite even harsher consequences.
“If Iran fails to accept the reality… President Trump will ensure they are hit harder than they have ever been hit before,” she said, cautioning Tehran against any further miscalculation.
The remarks reflect one of the strongest public signals yet from Washington amid the intensifying US-Israeli military campaign against Iran, now stretching into multiple weeks.
Talks Continue Despite Escalation Threat
Despite the combative tone, the White House maintained that diplomatic engagement with Iran remains ongoing. Leavitt described the talks as “productive,” indicating that backchannel negotiations are still in play even as military pressure increases.
Reports suggest the United States has put forward a multi-point proposal aimed at ending hostilities, though details remain unclear and some aspects have been disputed by officials. Iran, however, has reportedly responded negatively to key elements of the proposal, underscoring the gap between the two sides.
The dual-track approach of diplomacy backed by military pressure highlights Washington’s strategy of forcing concessions while keeping the door open for a negotiated settlement.
War Enters Critical Phase
The conflict has entered a critical stage, with rising military deployments and increasing global concern over its broader implications, including disruptions to energy supplies and regional stability.
US officials claim that sustained strikes have weakened Iran’s military capabilities, while Tehran has signalled defiance and rejected key demands, including curbs on its strategic programmes.
As both sides harden their positions, the coming days are likely to determine whether the situation moves toward de-escalation through diplomacy or further intensifies into a prolonged and more destructive confrontation.
