“Thumka Lagao…”: Tej Pratap Yadav Threatens to Suspend Cop at Holi party

A viral video of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tej Pratap Yadav has sparked major controversy. The video surfaced from his Holi celebrations in Patna. But what caused trouble was his gesture towards a police officer. In the video, Yadav was seen ordering a police officer to dance. The incident, which took place at Tej Pratap’s official residence on Friday, quickly went viral on social media.

Tej Pratap Yadav Threatens To Suspend Cops

The viral video shows Tej Pratap seated on a stage, addressing a uniformed police officer named Deepak. He orders the officer saying, “Ae sipahi, ae Deepak, ek gana bajayenge uspe tumko thumka lagana hai. Bura mat mano Holi hai. Aaj nahi thumka lagaoge toh suspend kar diye jaoge (Hey, Deepak, I will play a song, and you will have to dance. Don’t mind, it’s Holi. If you don’t dance today, you will be suspended).”

Cop Complies and Dances

Following his orders, the officer complies, raising his hands and seemingly dancing to the tune. The former state minister, Tej Pratap began singing a song and continues to participate in the festivities, including the controversial ‘kurta faad’ activity. In this ‘Kurta faad’ activity the party workers tear each other’s clothes after smearing them with color.
Well, not just that, in addition to the dance controversy, Tej Pratap took a dig at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, calling him unfit to be addressed as “uncle” and predicting that the “real Holi” would be celebrated when RJD returns to power.

BJP condemns the incident

The whole incident has drawn sharp criticism from the opposition leaders. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla condemned Tej Pratap’s behavior, claiming it reflected the “jungle raj” and mentality of his father. Poonawalla said, “Like father, like son. First, the father – as the then CM used to make law dance to his tunes and turn Bihar into a jungle raj. Now, the son, despite being out of power, attempts to make laws and protectors of law dance to his tunes through threats and pressure. He threatens Police personnel with suspension if he doesn’t dance. This shows that RJD believes in jungle raj…If they come to power even by mistake, they would violate law and make protectors of law dance…This is a trailer. So, it is important to keep them away from power…”

JDU Spokesperson Slams Tej Pratap Yadav

Joining the fray JDU spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan while talking to ANI said, “Jungleraaj has ended but Yuvraj of Lalu Yadav is threatening a policeman about the consequences if he (the policeman) will not comply with what he is instructing (to dance). Bihar has now changed. Be it Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav or any of the family members of Lalu Yadav – they need to understand that such acts have no place in the environment of this changing Bihar”.
Furthermore, the Congress leader Rashid Alvi expressed his disapproval over the incident. He emphasised that Tej Pratap’s comments were inappropriate and that he lacked the authority to suspend a police officer.
