Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections: TVK Chief Vijay Submits Nomination for Perambur and Trichy East

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are approaching, and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) President Vijay has officially filed his nomination papers for the Perambur and Trichy East constituencies. The elections are scheduled for April 23, encompassing 234 constituencies across the state, with vote counting set for May 4.

On March 29, Vijay presented the party’s manifesto in Chennai, announcing his vision for a drug-free and self-sufficient Tamil Nadu. Among his proposals are the establishment of “anti-drug protection zones” in educational institutions throughout the state. He emphasized that the main objective is to create a Tamil Nadu devoid of drug-related issues.

In addition to his commitment to drug prevention, Vijay pledged that all government examinations would be conducted punctually, without any delays. He also proposed monthly financial assistance of Rs 4,000 for graduates and Rs 2,000 for those holding diplomas, designed to support students and young professionals.

Long-Term vision for Employment and Entrepreneurship

Vijay articulated a broader vision for the youth of Tamil Nadu, aiming to transform them from job seekers to job creators. His “Local Employment for Local People” initiative aims to ensure that at least 75 percent of jobs in the state are allocated to the local population.

Furthermore, the “Creative Entrepreneurs Scheme” was introduced, seeking to position Tamil Nadu as a global hub for creators. Under this proposal, efforts will be made to cultivate 150,000 creators into entrepreneurs, alongside plans to establish 500 creative schools throughout the state.

Electoral Contest Shaping Up

The electoral landscape in Tamil Nadu is anticipated to be competitive, with major players including the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led Secular Progressive Alliance, which features coalition partners like Congress, DMDK, and VCK. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by AIADMK in conjunction with BJP and Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), will also play a significant role in the elections.

Vijay, a former actor entering the political arena through TVK, is poised to challenge the incumbent DMK candidate RD Shekar in Perambur. He will also face off against sitting MLA and DMK’s candidate Inigo Irudayaraj in Trichy East, marking his debut in the electoral process.
