Shimla Police Arrest Six In Connection With Rohru Drug Trafficking Case

The Shimla Police have detained six individuals linked to a heroin trafficking operation in Rohru, with the main distributor captured at the Indo-Nepal border. This development was confirmed by Shimla Additional Superintendent of Police Abhishek on Saturday. The authorities are intensifying their efforts to dismantle the entire drug supply chain within the district.

83 Grams of Heroin Seized; Digital Trail Exposes Wider Network

On February 2, police filed FIR No. 5/26 after two Punjab residents, identified as Jashandeep Singh and Dharampreet Singh, were arrested near Mehandli Bridge, with police discovering 83 grams of heroin in their possession. Following their arrest, authorities conducted a thorough review of digital evidence and analyzed bank accounts, which indicated the involvement of additional participants in this trafficking network.

Three More Arrested from Chirgaon, Sent to Police Remand

Subsequently, on February 10, three more suspects were taken into custody by Rohru Police. The individuals, namely Ashish Chauhan (24), Naveen Shitta (31), and Diwan Chand (39), all hail from Chirgaon. They have since been placed in police remand for further questioning.

Local Distribution Network Targeted Youth in Shimla District

Investigations revealed that Jashandeep Singh was responsible for distributing heroin across various locales in Shimla district, specifically in Rohru and Chirgaon. The police identified Vijender Singh Mehta, also known as Chotu, as a significant local distributor in Chirgaon who procured heroin from Singh and facilitated its distribution, targeting local youth.

120 Grams Transported from Punjab; Key Accused Fled to Nepal

On February 1, authorities disclosed that Jashandeep Singh had allegedly transported approximately 120 grams of heroin from Moga in Punjab to Rohru, of which about 37 grams were directed to Vijender Mehta, who played the role of a primary distributor in the region. To avoid capture, Vijender fled and reportedly sought refuge in Nepal.

Accused Arrested in Banbasa After Joint Cross-Border Operation

Following meticulous technical surveillance and collaboration with both Uttarakhand Police and Nepal Police, Vijender Singh Mehta was apprehended on February 13 in Banbasa, close to the Indo-Nepal border, just 48 hours after he was located.

Repeat Offender Linked to Multiple NDPS Cases

Vijender Singh Mehta, aged 35, is a resident of Sundha Bhonda village in Chirgaon tehsil. Police records indicate that he has been implicated in three prior cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, with incidents documented at Chirgaon Police Station and Rohru Police Station involving the accumulation of 63 grams of heroin.

Probe Expands to Trace Main Supply Chain

Abhishek stated that a total of six individuals have been apprehended thus far, underscoring the ongoing investigation into this case. Efforts are underway to identify the primary source of heroin supply and eradicate the entire trafficking network.

48 NDPS Cases Registered This Year; Financial Probe Underway

As of this year, authorities report that Shimla Police have initiated 48 NDPS Act cases, resulting in the arrest of 94 suspects. Police are also conducting financial investigations alongside, aiming to trace and seize any illicit assets derived from drug trafficking operations in the district.
