Sara Ali Khan Required to Demonstrate Allegiance to Sanatan Dharma for Kedarnath Temple Entry

The CSR Journal Magazine

Actress Sara Ali Khan, known for her frequent visits to the Kedarnath shrine in the Himalayas, will face restrictions on her access to the holy site unless she can confirm her allegiance to Sanatan Dharma.

The chairman of the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee, Hemant Dwivedi, announced that individuals who do not identify as adherents of Sanatan Dharma must submit an affidavit to verify their belief in Hinduism to gain entry to temples overseen by the committee.

Official Statement on Devotion

During a media briefing in Dehradun, Dwivedi stated that if Khan demonstrates her commitment to Sanatan Dharma and submits the necessary documentation, she would be permitted to pray at the shrine. This marks a significant change in the access policy for visitors to the Kedarnath temple, which has long been a revered site for numerous pilgrims.

Family Background Considerations

Sara Ali Khan’s family background includes a diverse cultural heritage. Her mother, Amrita Singh, is from a Punjabi Sikh lineage, while her father, Saif Ali Khan, is a well-known Muslim actor. This blend of traditions raises questions about the new entry requirements for the temple. Sources close to Khan expressed confusion and discontent regarding the recent developments, suggesting that such restrictions were previously unimaginable in the country.

Historical Context of Visits

Khan’s association with the Kedarnath shrine began in 2017 when she filmed a movie titled “Kedarnath” alongside actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Since that time, she has consistently visited the holy site. However, under the new rules, her future visits could be limited unless her religious stance is confirmed as per the temple committee’s requirements.
