Argentina is currently implementing measures to attract a larger number of Indian tourists, according to Mariano Caucino, the Argentine Ambassador to India. His statements were made during the Iconic Tourism Summit in New Delhi on September 24, 2025. The ambassador noted that individuals from India with a valid US visa can travel to Argentina as tourists for up to 90 days without needing an Argentine visa.

Caucino highlighted that this visa-free access for Indians commenced in August 2025. He also mentioned a complimentary five-year business visa available for Indian nationals, aiming to enhance business travel between the two nations. This expansion of visa facilities is part of Argentina’s broader strategy to strengthen relationships through tourism, particularly in sectors such as energy and food security.

The ambassador pointed out the importance of fostering closer ties through tourism, with an emphasis on reducing barriers for travel. He remarked on the potential for reciprocal measures from India, allowing Argentine citizens easier access to India as well.

Enhancements In Air Connectivity Between The Two Nations

A significant point raised by Caucino was the ongoing negotiations between the civil aviation authorities of Argentina and India regarding an Air Services Agreement. According to the ambassador, this agreement aims to provide airlines from both countries with greater flexibility to operate flights between them.

The proposed agreement is part of Argentina’s strategy to liberalise its air transport market. Caucino noted that since the start of the current administration, Argentina has signed agreements with over 55 countries to facilitate the expansion of its aviation sector. The ambassador expressed optimism about how increased air connectivity could lead to more routes, expanded competition, and lower fares for travellers.

He acknowledged the geographical distance between the two countries but asserted that meaningful advancements could be accomplished in terms of connectivity. Greater freedom for airlines would allow for the introduction of more routes and competitive pricing, thereby enhancing travel opportunities for citizens of both nations.

Opportunities For Indian Professionals And Growing Economic Ties

Caucino also discussed the opportunities available for Indian technology professionals through Argentina’s digital nomad visa programme. He noted that a significant number of young tech professionals in India are keen on global exposure, and Argentina’s digital nomad visa permits remote workers to reside in the country for up to six months, with a possibility of a six-month extension.

The ambassador remarked on the potential synergy between Argentina’s technology ecosystem and the talent pool from India. He suggested that expanded cooperation could benefit both Argentine startups and Indian professionals, calling for reciprocal action from India regarding visa policies to facilitate this exchange further.

The economic relationship between Argentina and India has been strengthening, with India currently ranked as Argentina’s sixth-largest trading partner. Bilateral trade between the two countries exceeded $6.5 billion in 2025, a clear indication of the increasing economic engagement. Caucino noted that India’s growth trajectory positions it as a vital partner for Argentina and the global community at large.
