Sanju Samson Eyes CSK Move, RR Seek Two Players in Swap Deal: Report

The CSR Journal Magazine

Ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, Sanju Samson, captain of Rajasthan Royals, is reportedly planning to leave the franchise, according to a sports media agency. The 30-year-old, one of RR’s highest run-getters, has requested the team to either trade or release him.

As per reports, five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings are keen to sign Samson, and the player had also met CSK management and head coach Stephen Fleming in the US after IPL 2025 concluded. It is said that RR is open to trading Samson to Chennai in exchange for two players.

Another team interested in securing Samson is Kolkata Knight Riders; however, he has clearly expressed interest in Chennai. Previously, Samson played for KKR in 2012, the year they won the title under Gautam Gambhir. If RR and CSK fail to reach an agreement, Samson will enter the auction.

Samson’s IPL record

Sanju Samson made his IPL debut in 2013 and has scored 4,704 runs in 177 matches, mainly for RR (Rajasthan Royals) and DC (Delhi Daredevils). He has three centuries and 26 fifties to his name. As RR captain, he has won 33 out of 67 matches. He was retained by RR for ₹18 crore.
