Sanitiser Poured on Private Parts, Set Ablaze: Teen Alleges Brutal Attack by Live-In Partner

A 19-year-old woman from Tripura has recounted a disturbing episode of violence inflicted by her live-in partner in Gurugram. The victim reported to the police that her partner, identified as Shivam, also 19 years old, poured sanitiser on her private areas and subsequently set it on fire. Following this, he allegedly assaulted her with a metal bottle, hitting her on the head and smashing the bottle against furniture. The ordeal escalated as he allegedly attacked her with a knife.

Continuing Violence Over Three Days

The young woman, who is pursuing a degree in biotechnology in Gurugram, detailed that this series of assaults lasted for three consecutive days. She indicated that her partner coerced her into sexual relations under the guise of a promise of marriage. The confrontation that instigated the violence occurred on February 19, amidst discussions concerning their marriage plans.

Victim’s Current Condition

The survivor is currently in critical condition and receiving medical treatment at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Earlier, she was admitted to a government hospital in Gurugram and later referred to AIIMS before transferring to Safdarjung Hospital for advanced care, as her injuries were deemed serious by medical professionals.

Background of the Relationship

According to police records, the woman became acquainted with Shivam through an online dating platform in September 2025. Following a brief period of dating, she moved in with him in Sector 69, Gurugram. Reports indicate that discussions about marriage between their families had commenced prior to the attacks.

Police Investigation and Arrest

The incident came to the attention of law enforcement after the victim’s mother contacted the police following a call from her daughter, who implored her to intervene. She expressed shock upon learning that her daughter was cohabiting with the accused. The mother has called for the addition of charges related to rape and attempted murder against Shivam.

Charges Filed Against the Accused

An FIR has been registered against Shivam under several sections of the law, including 115(2) for voluntarily causing hurt, 118(1) for causing hurt with dangerous weapons, and other relevant sections that pertain to wrongful confinement and deception related to marital intentions. Authorities have stated that further investigations are ongoing and that additional charges may be considered based on medical reports about the victim’s injuries.
