Ayush Mhatre, captain of the Indian Under-19 cricket team, received a significant honor from cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar. Upon returning to Mumbai after India’s historic victory in the U19 World Cup held in Zimbabwe, Mhatre was gifted Tendulkar’s Test jersey, a gesture commemorating the team’s remarkable achievement. The Indian U19 team won the title by defeating England in the final, marking India’s sixth triumph in this age-group tournament.
Upon his arrival in Mumbai, Mhatre took the opportunity to visit Tendulkar, who presented him the cherished jersey along with a handwritten note. Tendulkar indicated that this particular jersey was worn during his final series, hoping to inspire Mhatre as he takes the next steps in his cricketing career. Tendulkar emphasized the necessity of hard work and focus, advising Mhatre to remain grounded and dedicated amidst potential distractions. He emphasised the importance of consistent practice and determination in a video shared from their meeting.
