The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Monday released a joint statement regarding its involvement in bringing the two conflicting communities in Manipur together. The RSS said that a solution to the ongoing ethnic conflict in the state will be found through efforts by the Hindu nationalist organisation. RSS publicity in-charge Sunil Ambekar spoke at a press conference in New Delhi on Monday and said that the Sangh has established communication with both the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities of the north-eastern state.
“When situations worsen in a region, they do not improve overnight. But compared to last year, there is now a modicum of peace in Manipur. Given the communication that is taking place from both sides, we believe a solution will be found,” said Ambekar during the press conference, which marked the conclusion of the Sangh’s Prant Pracharak Baithak, held between Friday and Sunday last week.

Ambekar also said that representatives of the RSS and Manipur had discussed the issue during a national-level meeting of all its regional functionaries. All top RSS leaders, including chief Mohan Bhagwat, attended the meeting.
“Representatives from various regions participated and spoke about the Sangh’s efforts in Manipur—specifically the work being done by volunteers to establish peace in the state. They shared how communication is being established with both communities to improve the environment. According to their experiences, things are moving in a positive direction. It may take some time, but some encouraging signs have been received,” Ambekar further added.
Parallel to this, A.K. Mishra, the Northeast advisor based in New Delhi, has been holding weekly meetings with Meitei community and civil society groups, as well as Kuki militant groups currently under the Suspension of Operations agreement with the Centre.
