This personal loss came soon after Rinku traveled home due to his father’s deteriorating health just before India’s crucial Super 8 match against Zimbabwe. Although he initially returned to join his family, Rinku rejoined the Indian squad in Chennai but was not included in the playing XI for the Zimbabwe match. The team opted for a reshuffled lineup, which involved bringing in Sanju Samson and Axar Patel while making adjustments to the batting order.
