Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma Observes Holi Puja at Residence

The CSR Journal Magazine

On March 3, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma celebrated the festival of Holi by conducting a traditional puja at his official residence in Civil Lines just after midnight. During the ceremony, he offered prayers aimed at ensuring the enduring happiness and prosperity of the citizens in the state. The puja took place at the Shri Raj Rajeshwari Temple premises.

After the puja, the Chief Minister participated in the ‘Holika Dahan’ ritual, which included the recitation of Vedic mantras. The celebration also featured a performance by personnel from the Rajasthan Police’s RAC Battalion, who sang traditional Holi songs and danced to the lively sound of the Chang drum. During this event, Chief Minister Sharma engaged with the soldiers, providing them with words of encouragement.

Several senior officials and employees from the Chief Minister’s Office were present for the Holika Dahan activities. Concurrently, another traditional Holika Dahan ceremony took place at Jaipur’s City Palace, reflecting a long-standing cultural heritage. The bonfire was ignited at 1:26 am following a series of customary prayers and rituals led by Sawai Padmanabh Singh, a member of the former Jaipur royal family. This event saw the attendance of notable members of the Jaipur royal family, including Rajasthan’s Deputy Chief Minister, Diya Kumari.

Following the rituals at the palace, the sacred fire was disseminated to various locations throughout the city in order to ignite neighborhood Holika bonfires, a practice that has been followed annually. Political leaders from other regions also participated in Holi celebrations across the country. For instance, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took part in the Holi Milan celebration at the BJP State Office in Dehradun.

During this occasion, Chief Minister Dhami engaged in playful festivities with party office-bearers and extended his warm wishes to all, highlighting the essence of the festival. He stated that Holi stands as a symbol of love, harmony, and societal unity, conveying the message of overcoming differences and bringing society together. Furthermore, he emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party, inspired by this spirit, is committed to the principles of Antyodaya and inclusive development, aiming to uplift every segment of society.
