A man has been arrested in Jaipur for allegedly murdering his 75-year-old father with an axe. This incident occurred approximately four months after the family was released on bail in connection with a previous murder case involving their daughter-in-law. The accused, identified as Sawai Ram Jat, reportedly attacked his father, Jagdish, following an argument on Thursday morning.

Details of the Attack

According to Police, Sawai Ram claimed that his father often instigated conflicts, particularly after consuming alcohol. On the night preceding the attack, a disagreement erupted between the two, leading to Sawai Ram’s violent outburst. During the altercation, he fatally struck Jagdish with a weapon, resulting in the latter’s death.

After the incident, Sawai Ram allegedly concealed the body within their residence for nearly a day. Unable to find a suitable location for disposal, he devised a plan to transport the corpse to Todaraisingh for cremation. On the morning of the incident, he arranged for a taxi, informing the driver that his father had died.

However, the taxi driver became suspicious upon noticing a foul odour emanating from the body and promptly notified the police. Law enforcement quickly arrived on the scene and apprehended Sawai Ram before he could transport the body to a nearby vacant area.

Family’s Previous Legal Troubles

The investigation revealed that the family had a troubling history with the law, particularly a murder charge they faced in 2024. Jagdish, his wife, and both sons were accused in that case concerning the death of their daughter-in-law. All four family members were incarcerated as a result of those charges.

Following legal proceedings, Jagdish, along with his wife and younger son Sawai Ram, was released on bail around four months ago. The elder son remains in custody due to the earlier murder allegations. This background raises questions about potential ongoing familial conflicts that may have contributed to the recent tragic event.

Local law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances that led to the latest incident. DCP Rajarshi Raj Verma confirmed that both Sawai Ram and his mother, Sajni, who was present during the attack, have been taken into custody. This case highlights ongoing issues surrounding domestic disputes and their often severe consequences.
