BJP Deploys Two Election Observers to Bengal

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has wasted no time in kicking off its election preparedness in West Bengal, despite the state still being steeped in the festive spirit of Durga Puja.

On Friday, two key BJP election observers, Bhupender Yadav and Biplab Kumar Deb, arrived in Kolkata. Their visit comes just a day after the Bijaya Dashami festival, signaling the party’s intent to accelerate its preparations.

Mr. Yadav has been appointed as the election observer for the state, with Mr. Deb serving as the co-observer. Their appointments were announced on September 25.

Upon their arrival at the Kolkata airport, they were welcomed by state BJP President Shamik Bhattacharya, former MP Nisith Pramanik, and Purulia MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato.

Strategy Meetings Planned

The observers are scheduled to hold initial meetings with top Bengal BJP leaders, including Shamik Bhattacharya and former state president Sukanta Majumdar. Following this, they plan to conduct separate meetings with party workers at various organizational levels.

The central BJP leadership emphasized that they do not want to lose any time in election preparation for the state assembly polls, which are approximately seven months away.

This move underscores the Bengal BJP’s determination to leave no stone unturned in their preparation for the 2026 assembly election, where the party aims for a regime change.

Trinamool Congress Launches Mass Outreach Program

In a corresponding move, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has announced a major public outreach drive to boost its grassroots connection ahead of the 2026 elections.

The party has directed its units across all levels—from the block to the district—to organize Bijaya Sammilani (post-festival gatherings) events.

The TMC leadership consistently prioritizes public engagement, and this tradition is being leveraged through the Bijaya Sammilani. The program will be implemented at the district, block, and regional levels.

Bijaya Sammilani to Start with Carnival

According to TMC sources, the program, announced by All India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, will officially commence on the day of the Red Road Puja Carnival.

The drive is slated to begin on October 5, featuring a roster of at least 50 prominent party leaders, including ministers, MPs, and MLAs. These leaders will travel across various parts of the state, engaging in courtesy exchanges and speaking directly with local residents at the block level.
