The CSR Journal Magazine

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Leaders’ Plenary Session of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi on Thursday, urging the international community to convert the ongoing technological disruptions into significant opportunities for humanity. He highlighted that the effective deployment of artificial intelligence hinges on undertaking “right action” informed by “right understanding.” Modi expressed optimism that the summit would lay a foundation for a more ethical and responsive digital landscape.

Promoting a Human-Centric AI Ecosystem

The Prime Minister articulated his belief that the summit would significantly contribute to building a human-centric and sensitive global AI ecosystem. “Throughout history, humanity has consistently turned disruptions into new opportunities. We now face another such chance, and it is imperative for us to collectively transform this disruption into the greatest opportunity for mankind,” he stated.

Guidance from Buddha’s Teachings

In his speech, PM Modi referenced the teachings of Lord Buddha, underscoring the necessity of clarity and timely decision-making in the governance of artificial intelligence. “As the land of Buddha, it is vital for us to develop a roadmap that reveals the true impact of AI. Genuine impact can only be achieved when decisions are made with the right intentions at the right times,” he remarked.

Collaborative Efforts During Global Challenges

The Prime Minister drew attention to the collaborative efforts witnessed during the COVID-19 pandemic as a paradigm for global cooperation. “The world learned that solidarity can make the impossible feasible, whether it was in vaccine development, managing supply chains, or data sharing to save lives during the pandemic,” he noted.

Global Leadership in AI Governance

Modi participated in a significant session that gathered global leaders, government ministers, and representatives from multilateral institutions to define both national and international priorities regarding AI governance, infrastructure development, and international collaboration. This summit marks the first global AI gathering hosted by a nation in the Global South, reflecting a vision centered on the broader theme of “AI for Humanity.”

Opening Ceremony Highlights

Earlier in the day, PM Modi took part in the Opening Ceremony of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, where he was joined by various dignitaries, including French President Emmanuel Macron and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, alongside several prominent leaders from the global tech industry. The summit aims to explore the transformative capabilities of artificial intelligence while aligning with the Indian ethos of “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya.”
