The Ministry of External Affairs announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the prestigious Medal of the Knesset, becoming the first individual to receive this honour. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that Prime Minister Modi dedicated the medal to the lasting friendship and shared democratic values between India and Israel.
Jaiswal conveyed this information through a post on the social media platform X, stating, “Partnership going from strength to strength!” The Medal of the Knesset was presented to Modi by the Speaker of the Knesset, Amir Ohana, during the Prime Minister’s two-day official visit to Israel.
The Medal of the Knesset is the highest accolade awarded by the Israeli Parliament. This visit marks a significant occasion for both countries, aimed at bolstering diplomatic relations and highlighting cooperation in various fields.
Indian Community in Israel Expresses Admiration
In a related observation, Ori Kadvil, a representative of the Jewish Indian community residing in Israel, commended India’s advancements in science and technology. Kadvil noted that he and his associates were impressed by the scale of hackathons organized in India, expressing a desire to leverage this potential for mutual benefit.
“I belong to the Jewish Indian community from Kochi. Upon discussing our plans for a hackathon with 200 participants, I learned that in India, hackathons typically feature 200 teams. This revelation left both myself and my Israeli colleagues astonished, reflecting the immense capacity India possesses in the fields of science and technology,” Kadvil said.
He further described the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Modi as a memorable and positive experience, remarking on the honour felt by him and his colleagues during the visit. “We had the chance to shake hands with him, and it was indeed an interesting event that we greatly appreciated,” Kadvil added.
Shared Potential in Science and Technology
Another Israeli citizen, Yarin Didi, expressed pride in the collaboration between India and Israel, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence and technological innovation. Didi highlighted the remarkable talent present in both nations and stated that combined efforts could lead to substantial advancements.
