PM Modi Engages in Discussions with Kazakhstan PM to Enhance Partnership

On February 18, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted discussions with Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, coinciding with the ongoing AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. The two leaders focused on strategies to bolster the strategic partnership, emphasizing opportunities for collaboration across various sectors. According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, they explored avenues to enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, defence and security, connectivity, energy, emerging technologies, and cultural exchanges.

Welcoming Ceremony for Kazakhstan PM

Prime Minister Bektenov arrived in New Delhi earlier on the same day and was warmly welcomed by Kirti Vardhan Singh, Union Minister of State for External Affairs, at the airport. In official remarks, it was highlighted that Bektenov’s visit and participation in the summit were expected to significantly contribute to strengthening the partnership between India and Kazakhstan.

International Presence at the AI Summit

The AI Impact Summit has attracted numerous global leaders to New Delhi, actively engaging in discussions about artificial intelligence and its implications for society. Earlier in the day, PM Modi held multiple bilateral meetings with various dignitaries, including Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, and Spanish President Pedro Sanchez. Additionally, prominent figures such as UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Seychelles Vice President Sebastien Pillay, Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, and Ebba Busch, Sweden’s Deputy Prime Minister responsible for Energy, Business, and Industry, have also arrived in the capital for the event.

Overview of the AI Impact Summit 2026

The India AI Impact Summit 2026, taking place at Bharat Mandapam, commenced on February 16 and is scheduled to continue until February 20, 2026. This significant event brings together policymakers, AI specialists, academic leaders, technology innovators, and representatives from civil society worldwide. Their collective goal is to advance global discussions surrounding artificial intelligence and its applications.
