Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to go on a two-day tour across four states. The tour starts on Thursday, that is, May 29, 2025, and will include visits to the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal. During his visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to launch several development projects.
Earlier, Sikkim was scheduled as the first stop; however, Modi will not be able to visit Gangtok now for the 50th anniversary celebration of the Sikkim State Road because of adverse weather conditions in the state. Instead, the Prime Minister will address the people of Sikkim via video conferencing from Bagdogra.
Under the theme of “Sunaulo, Samridha and Samarth Sikkim,” the government is planning several activities to celebrate Sikkim’s culture, nature, and history. Modi will also lay foundation stones of several development projects in Sikkim, which include a new 500-bed hospital in Namchi worth over ₹750 crore, a passenger ropeway in Gyalshing district, a statue of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Gangtok district, and many others. The Prime Minister will also release a commemorative coin and stamp to mark the 50th year of the Sikkim State Road.
Following this, the Prime Minister will travel to West Bengal to lay foundation stones for the City Gas Distribution project in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts. This project will cost more than ₹1010 crore and will aim to provide piped natural gas to over 2,50,000 households and many businesses. Alongside, 19 CNG stations for vehicles will be operational in the state. This project is expected to bring clean fuel and create jobs in the region.
Bihar and Uttar Pradesh
On the next day, the Prime Minister will head towards Bihar, where he will inaugurate the new terminal building of Patna Airport, built at a cost of around ₹1200 crore. The terminal is being prepared to handle a passenger count of more than one crore annually. In Patna, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the new civil enclave of Bihta Airport near Patna, which will cost over ₹1410 crore. Bihta has become an important educational hub with institutions like IIT Patna and a planned NIT campus operating.
After this, the Prime Minister on Friday will move to Kanpur Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, where he will open and start many projects worth about ₹20,900 crore. These projects include the Chunni Ganj Metro Station to Kanpur Central Metro rail project, which will add 14 more stations, including five underground stops near important city areas.
