The National Testing Agency (NTA) has debarred Aditya Motegaonkar, son of Latur-based coaching centre owner Shivraj Motegaonkar, from appearing for the NEET UG examination for two years in connection with the paper leak case. His NEET UG result has been withheld and he has been declared ineligible to take the examination in 2027, according to an NTA communication dated September 19.

Shivraj Motegaonkar, who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the NEET UG paper leak case, is currently in judicial custody. The CBI has alleged that he paid Rs 5 lakh to obtain chemistry questions from P V Kulkarni, a member of the NTA panel involved in setting the examination paper.

NTA Withholds NEET UG Result

The NTA’s action follows an inquiry into alleged irregularities involving Aditya Motegaonkar. After conducting a NEET UG retest on June 21, the agency withheld his result and sought an explanation from him regarding the allegations.

In his response to the NTA, Aditya denied using any unfair means during the examination. He also pointed out that the notice issued to him concerned alleged irregularities in the May 3 examination and questioned why his result from the subsequent retest had been withheld.

The latest communication from the testing agency means that his result will remain withheld and he will not be permitted to appear for NEET UG 2027.

CBI Allegations In Paper Leak Case

According to the CBI, Shivraj Motegaonkar allegedly paid Rs 5 lakh to P V Kulkarni to obtain chemistry questions ahead of the examination. Kulkarni was part of the NTA panel responsible for setting questions for NEET UG.

The investigating agency has also alleged that Aditya attended coaching classes conducted by Kulkarni, where the questions were provided. The allegations form part of the paper leak case in which Shivraj Motegaonkar was arrested and is currently in judicial custody.

The NTA’s decision to debar Aditya follows the agency’s examination of the alleged irregularities and his response to the notice issued after his result was placed on hold.

NEET UG Paper Leak And Retest

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), or NEET UG, is conducted by the NTA for students seeking admission to medical courses.

The NTA cancelled the NEET UG examination held on May 3 after allegations of a paper leak. On May 12, the agency announced the cancellation and subsequently conducted a re-examination on June 21.

The CBI has been investigating the alleged paper leak and other irregularities linked to the examination. Last month, the agency submitted its final report before a designated fast-track court in Delhi dealing with criminal cases arising from paper leaks and the use of other unfair means in public examinations.

With the NTA’s latest order, Aditya Motegaonkar remains barred from NEET UG for the specified period, while his result from the examination remains withheld.
