The CSR Journal Magazine

A 29-year-old MBBS student, identified as Shiva, died on Monday after allegedly jumping from the 21st floor of a residential high-rise in Gaur City 2, 14th Avenue, located in Greater Noida West. The incident occurred under the Bisrakh police station limits and is currently under investigation.

According to officials, Shiva was staying with his sister and mother at the time of the incident. Around 1 PM, he reportedly went to the balcony and jumped. Though he was rushed to a nearby hospital, he was declared dead on arrival. The sudden fall caused panic among residents, who alerted authorities immediately.

Victim was Pursuing MBBS

Shiva was originally from Mathura and had been pursuing an MBBS degree from a private medical college in Delhi, having enrolled in the 2015 batch. However, in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he developed mental health issues that forced him to suspend his studies. Sources suggest he had been under severe emotional distress since then.

Police have not recovered any suicide note from the scene. A senior Bisrakh police officer said, “The exact cause behind the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. We are examining all possible angles, including mental stress, professional pressure, or personal reasons.”

Bisrakh police station in-charge, Manoj Kumar, stated that Shiva, son of Rakesh Kumar Sharma, was taken to the hospital immediately after the incident, but doctors pronounced him dead. A panchnama was conducted in the presence of his family, and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.

Police Rushed Victim to Hospital

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Shaivya Goyal added, “Police rushed to the spot after receiving the information about the suicide and transported Shiva to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.” She confirmed the presence of family members at the time and said further legal action is being taken.

Residents of the society described Shiva as a quiet and reserved individual. Police are trying to verify the medical institution or hospital where he might have been undergoing training. The family is yet to give an official statement, as they are reportedly in deep shock.

The post-mortem report and family testimony are awaited to provide further clarity in the case. The police are continuing their investigation.
