Mumbai Police Issues Travel Advisory Ahead of Dussehra: Traffic Diversions, No-Parking Zones Announced

Mumbai is set to witness heavy traffic disruptions on October 2 due to large-scale Dussehra rallies by both factions of the Shiv Sena. While the Thackeray faction will hold its annual rally at Shivaji Park, the Shinde-led faction will conduct a parallel gathering at Azad Maidan. The Mumbai Traffic Police have issued a detailed advisory, urging commuters to plan their travel in advance, avoid key routes, and use public transportation.

Major Political Rallies Expected to Disrupt Traffic

As Mumbai prepares to celebrate Dussehra on October 2, significant traffic disruptions are expected across key parts of the city due to multiple political rallies. The Mumbai Traffic Police have issued a detailed advisory urging commuters to avoid certain routes and use public transport wherever possible.

The Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena will be holding a massive rally at Shivaji Park in Dadar, while the Shinde-led faction will organize a separate event at Azad Maidan. With thousands expected to participate, heavy congestion is anticipated, especially in Dadar and its surrounding areas.

No Parking Zones Across Dadar and Other Areas

Parking will be completely prohibited on several important roads to manage the expected crowd and vehicular congestion. The following roads will be no-parking zones throughout the day:

  • S.V.S Road (Siddhivinayak Mandir Junction to Yes Bank)

  • Keluskar Road (North and South), Dadar

  • M.B. Raut Road (From S.V.S. Road junction), Dadar

  • Pandurang Naik Marg, Dadar

  • Dadasaheb Rege Marg (Senapati Bapat Statue to Gadkari Junction), Dadar

  • Lt. Dilip Gupte Marg (Shivaji Park Gate No. 4 to Shitaladevi Temple Junction)

  • N.C. Kelkar Marg (Gadkari Junction to Hanuman Temple Junction), Dadar

  • L.J. Road (Rajabade Junction to Gadkari Junction)

No Entry and Alternate Routes

Several roads will remain closed for traffic, and the police have suggested alternative routes for commuters:

  • S.V.S Road (Siddhivinayak Mandir to Kapad Bazar, Mahim):

    Use Siddhivinayak Junction → S.K. Bole Road → Agar Bazar → Portuguese Church → Gokhale Road.

  • Raja Bade Chowk to Keluskar Marg (North):

    Use L.J. Road → Gokhale Road → Steel Man Junction → Gokhale Road.

  • Lt. Dilip Gupte Road from Pandurang Naik Marg (Southbound):

    Use Raja Bade Junction → L.J. Road.

  • Gadkari Chowk to Keluskar Road (South):

    Use M.B. Raut Marg.

Additional Road Closures and Diversions

Bal Govindas Marg (Padmabai Thakkar Marg Junction to L.J. Marg, westbound):
Traffic will be diverted to Manorama Nagarkar Marg.

Dadasaheb Rege Road (Senapati Bapat Statue to Gadkari Junction):
Diversions via L.J. Road, Gokhale Road, and Ranade Road.

Designated Parking Zones and Police Appeal

To prevent congestion near rally venues, the police have designated specific parking zones nearby. Attendees are requested to strictly park only in these designated areas. The Mumbai Police have emphasized the use of public transport and warned of heavy congestion, especially in Dadar and central Mumbai.
