A deeply disturbing incident has come to light from Bihar’s Munger district, Here, four minor boys were tied with ropes, brutally beaten, and paraded through their village. This comes after they were accused of stealing 25 kilograms of peas.

A 20-second video of the ordeal went viral on social media, bringing attention to the incident that occurred in Jhowabahiyar village. Widespread condemnation followed, and the police took action.

Viral Video Shows Minors with Bound Hands

With their hands bound behind their backs and tears streaming down their faces, the visibly frightened boys are seen walking through the village in the video, which has sparked outrage online. Local sources claim that one of the boys confessed to the theft and named three other boys, which resulted in their public humiliation and collective punishment.

No Intervention from Families or Villagers

Surprisingly, no bystanders or the minors’ families tried to step in during the incident. According to reports, some locals took advantage of the occasion to confront the kids about unrelated thefts. Residents later told media outlets that the harsh treatment was intended to deter further incidents of petty theft in the village.

Syed Imran Masood, the Munger Superintendent of Police, acknowledged that the authorities had received the widely shared video and had started looking into the incident. Based on the results and video evidence, legal action is anticipated into the alleged matter.

12-Year-Old Boy Dies by Suicide After Theft Accusation

In another heartbreaking case from May, a 12-year-old boy in Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal, accused of stealing a packet of chips allegedly consumed pesticide. According to reports, the shopkeeper punished the child by making him perform sit-ups. The boy later died by suicide because he could no longer stand the humiliation.

These tragic events have sparked concern about the growing trend of children suspected of petty thefts receiving vigilante-style punishments. Nationwide, concerned citizens and child rights advocates are demanding that child protection laws be enforced more strictly. Additionally, they call for prompt action against those responsible for these humiliating and abusive acts.
