The CSR Journal Magazine

An email threat claiming that a bomb would be detonated at the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai was reported during the ongoing budget session on Thursday. Law enforcement officials confirmed that following a comprehensive search of the facility, the threat was determined to be a hoax.

The police revealed that the email was received early in the morning, indicating intentions to destroy the legislative complex situated at Nariman Point, which houses both the state assembly and council.

Security Measures Activated Immediately

In response to the threat, security protocols were immediately implemented. All staff and visitors were efficiently evacuated as a precautionary measure. The entrance gates of the Vidhan Bhavan were closed around 8:25 AM to facilitate organized security checks across the premises. Teams from the Mumbai Police, including the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, were deployed to meticulously examine the site.

Thorough Search Conducted; Area Secured

After completing an extensive inspection, authorities announced the area was safe, as no suspicious objects were discovered. During the search, security around the vicinity was heightened. Officers and employees waited outside until all checks were finalized, and the gates were reopened once an all-clear signal was issued from the authorities.

Details on Legislative Session

The budget session of the Maharashtra legislature commenced on February 23 and is anticipated to conclude on March 25. It is important to note that the winter session is typically held in Nagpur.

Following the hoax incident, police initiated a preliminary investigation, suggesting that the threat was not credible. An inquiry is underway to trace the origin of the emails and identify those accountable for the alarming communication.
