India, Russia Hold Foreign Office Consultations, Review Strategic Partnership

India and Russia on Monday held Foreign Office Consultations in the national capital, reviewing the full spectrum of their Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership and discussing key bilateral, regional and global issues.

The consultations were co-chaired by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko.

Wide-Ranging Bilateral Discussions

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, both sides assessed the entire gamut of India-Russia relations, including cooperation across sectors and future engagements.

“India-Russia Foreign Office Consultations… reviewed the full spectrum of Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership and shared perspectives on bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest,” the MEA said in a post on X.

The discussions reflected the depth of ties between the two countries, which continue to engage regularly across diplomatic, economic and strategic domains.

Focus On Upcoming Engagements

The two sides also discussed the schedule of upcoming high-level interactions, signalling continued momentum in bilateral engagement.

A statement from the Russian Embassy said the consultations covered key items on the bilateral agenda, including future contacts and coordination on important issues.

Officials noted that such consultations play a crucial role in preparing the ground for high-level visits and strengthening institutional dialogue between the two nations.

High-Level Meeting With EAM Jaishankar

Following the consultations, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

Sharing details on social media, Jaishankar described the meeting as productive and said discussions focused on advancing wide-ranging cooperation as well as regional and global developments.

The visit underscores the sustained high-level engagement between India and Russia, even as both countries navigate evolving geopolitical dynamics.

Officials said the dialogue highlights the continued importance both sides attach to their long-standing strategic partnership.
