From Hope to Self-Reliance: Deepak Fertilisers’ CSR Initiatives Transform Rural Lives Near Taloja

In the quiet villages around Taloja, a silent transformation is taking root, one powered not by charity but by empowerment. Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (DFPCL), through its CSR arm, Ishanya Foundation, is rewriting the narrative of rural development with a focus on dignity, self-reliance, and lasting impact. Across 63 villages near its Taloja plant, DFPCL is helping communities move beyond survival and toward sustainable progress. Whether it’s women stepping into entrepreneurship, farmers reclaiming barren land, or families achieving financial independence, each success story is built on trust, skills, and opportunity.

Dairy Livelihoods Empower Rural Women

For Manisha Gotiram Rikame of Chinchvali village, life once revolved around her husband’s uncertain agricultural income. That changed when she joined DFPCL’s dairy development initiative. With help to purchase cows, training in dairy practices, and feed support, Manisha now runs her own small-scale dairy business. “Earlier, I had no steady income of my own. Today, I can pay for my children’s education and contribute meaningfully to my family. I feel empowered,” she shared.

Reviving the Land, Reviving Hope

In Khairwadi, Kalibai and her husband Shravan Bhagat had almost given up on farming. Their land, once dry and unproductive, found new life through DFPCL’s wadi (orchard) development project. With technical support, they planted mango trees and expanded vegetable cultivation from 15R to 50R. “Selling my first mango harvest was emotional that land once felt like a burden, now it gives us hope,” said Kalibai.

Entrepreneurship Through Local Shops

Vasudha Vasant Pawar from Nitlas dreamt of starting a small business. With DFPCL’s help, she opened a local snack stall and received business training. The shop now supports her household and gives her a newfound identity. “I’m not just earning I’m standing on my own feet,” she said with pride.

Leadership Speaks

DFPCL’s CSR approach is anchored in long-term community engagement. “We don’t just run programs we build partnerships,” said Mr. Naresh Pinisetti, President of Corporate Governance at Deepak Fertilisers. “True impact is measured not in numbers, but in the lives we help transform.”

From dairy barns to thriving orchards to local enterprises, the CSR work of Deepak Fertilisers around Taloja stands as a testament to what’s possible when corporations walk hand-in-hand with communities nurturing growth, one story at a time.
