Haryanvi Singer Ankit Baliyan Shot Dead Outside Gym in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh

Ankit Baliyan, a well-known Haryanvi singer and YouTuber, was shot dead outside a gym in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, on the evening of August 26. This tragic event occurred shortly after he completed his workout and was approached by three to four unidentified individuals who opened fire at approximately 7 pm. Reports indicate that around 20 rounds were fired, highlighting the severity of the attack.

Following the incident, Baliyan sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was promptly transported to a nearby health centre, where medical professionals were unable to save him. The violent nature of his death has drawn attention to one of his hit songs, “Bhari Court Mein Goli,” which has amassed over 54 million views on YouTube. However, no direct connection between the song and the shooting has been established thus far.

Authorities have launched an extensive investigation into the shooting, forming multiple teams to trace the attackers and reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity. The case has also garnered public attention, prompting protests from Baliyan’s family and supporters who demand justice.

Background on Ankit Baliyan

Ankit Baliyan hailed from Bantikhera village in Shamli and had recently been residing in Rohtak and Sonipat in Haryana as he pursued his artistic career. In addition to being a musician, he was an actor and digital creator, having gained a substantial following with over 3.6 lakh subscribers on YouTube. His online presence was amplified through various music videos, podcasts, and engaging content.

His musical repertoire included a mix of contemporary Haryanvi pop, often addressing themes of rural identity, power, and bravado. Some of his other notable tracks included “112 NE,” “Goli Ke Barood,” “Jaat Jatni,” and “Savidhan.” Baliyan collaborated with several prominent figures in the Haryanvi music industry, further solidifying his influence in the cultural domain.

On Instagram, he boasted more than 4.62 lakh followers, with his final post surfacing less than 24 hours prior to his death. In this post, he performed a verse that hinted at violence, raising unsettling questions in light of the circumstances surrounding his fatal shooting.
