Fight Over Tandoori Roti Turns Deadly at Amethi Wedding, Two Teens Killed

A very unusual but tragic incident has come from Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi district. The incident occurred on the night of May 3. A minor disagreement over food during a wedding celebration turned into a deadly altercation.

According to reports a fight over tandoori roti at a wedding reception claimed the lives of two young guests. The altercation  between the occurred in the wedding in Balbhadra Pur village. A dispute over tandoori roti during a wedding dinner escalated into a fatal fight. The following area comes under the jurisdiction of Jamo police station.

Verbal Dispute Turns Violent

Reports suggest that an argument broke out over who would take the roti first between 18-year-old Ravi Kumar, also known as Kallu, and 17-year-old Ashish Kumar. The altercation occurred during the reception dinner at the wedding. The wedding was of Ramjeevan Verma’s daughter.

The small fight over who would take the roti first quickly turned physical. Eyewitness reported both youths used sticks and rods to attack each other.

One Dies on Spot

The eyewitnesses and the locals present on scene say the brawl escalated too fast for others to intervene. 17- year- old Ashish succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Meanwhile, Ravi was rushed to the Trauma Center in Lucknow. Unfortunately, he died en route due to the severity of his injuries.

Ramjeevan Verma, the father of the bride, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident. “We were busy with the wedding arrangements when we heard about the fight. By the time we reached, both boys had seriously injured each other. Who could imagine something like this happening over a roti?” he told the media.

Police Begin Investigation

Following the tragedy Circle Officer Akhilesh Verma confirmed both deaths. He stated that police had taken custody of the bodies and sent them for postmortem for initial findings. The police further claimed that investigation is ongoing, and further legal action will be based on eyewitness reports and medical findings.
