A major explosion and subsequent boiler blast at Kalka Chemical Company in Sector-24 of Faridabad on Monday left more than 42 people injured, triggering panic in the area. The explosion was followed by a massive fire that spread rapidly within and around the factory premises.
According to officials, 12 injured persons have been admitted to the Civil Hospital in Faridabad, while 30 others are undergoing treatment at Fortis Hospital. Among the injured are three police personnel and two firefighters who sustained injuries during rescue operations.
Fire department officials said they received information about the blaze around 4:30 pm, after which firefighting teams rushed to the spot and began operations to control the flames. Rescue teams also evacuated nearby areas as a precautionary measure to prevent further casualties.
SDM Trilok Chand revealed that nearly 30 drums containing chemicals were stored outside the factory premises, and the explosion impacted people moving in the vicinity. The presence of these chemical drums is suspected to have intensified the blast and fire.
Faridabad Chief Medical Officer Jayant Ahuja stated that ambulances were deployed immediately, hospital wards were cleared to accommodate victims, and doctors on leave were called back to handle the emergency. “We are fully prepared, and the injured are being given initial treatment,” he said.
