Doctor Turns Killer: Husband Uses Medical Knowledge to End Wife’s Life

The CSR Journal Magazine

A shocking murder case has come to light in Bengaluru — surgeon Dr. Mahendra Reddy G.S. has been arrested for allegedly murdering his dermatologist wife earlier this year. Dr. Kruthika M. Reddy was murdered on April 24, and the arrest took place after Kruthika’s father lodged an FIR on October 14.

As per the investigation, Dr. Kruthika, 29, died under suspicious circumstances less than a year after her marriage. The post-mortem revealed the presence of Propofol — a potent anesthetic that is mostly used in operations. Her husband, Dr. Mahendra, is accused of illegally obtaining the drug and administering it to her to make the murder appear like a natural death.

The FIR also states that the accused prevented his in-laws from filing a complaint and even tried to stop them from requesting an autopsy. The case has been registered under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which provides for life imprisonment or the death penalty for murder. The accused was arrested near Manipal within three hours of a Look-Out Circular being issued to prevent him from fleeing abroad.

The victim’s family has alleged that Dr. Mahendra was involved in several cases of cheating, intimidation, and threats, which he had hidden prior to the marriage.
In a statement, the victim’s father, Muni Reddy K, said, “Kruthika believed in her husband and his profession. The same medical knowledge meant to heal was used to end her life. We want justice for our daughter — not just for our family, but for every woman who trusts.”
