Dr Kiran Honannavar, aged 45, was allegedly murdered inside his apartment in Dharwad, Karnataka, on July 15, 2026. His eight-year-old son was also reportedly stabbed during the incident. Both individuals were discovered in a gruesome scene, prompting immediate police action.

Local authorities received an alert from neighbours about suspicious circumstances in the residence. Upon arrival, police found significant bloodshed in the apartment. Disturbingly, a video from the scene purportedly depicts Dr Honannavar’s wife, Priyanka, who is also a doctor, lying on the bed and engaged with her phone while her husband and son lay injured nearby.

Emergency services were promptly contacted, and the Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner, N Shashikumar, took personal charge of the situation. He transported the injured child to a private hospital after confirming the boy was still alive. Currently, he is receiving medical care for his injuries.

On the evening of July 15, Kiran’s friends and relatives became concerned after they were unable to reach him through multiple calls on the previous night and morning. When Priyanka answered their calls, she initially informed them that her husband was resting and later claimed that he had gone out on duty.

Eventually, after receiving no further communication and growing anxious, family members visited the couple’s flat. Upon entering the premises, they discovered Kiran and his son in a pool of blood. Priyanka was reportedly found unresponsive on the bed, still using her phone, which raised immediate suspicion among those who entered the apartment.

The police have since launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding this shocking event. Investigators are gathering evidence and testimonies, as they attempt to piece together the timeline of events leading up to the incident.
