Developmental Works Planned at Historic Tripura Sundari Temple Ahead of Diwali Mela

The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, has announced that developmental works are set to commence at the historic Mata Tripura Sundari Temple located in Udaipur, Gomati district. This initiative aims to enhance the infrastructure and facilities for both devotees and visitors. Saha, who is also the Chairman of the Matabari Trust, made this declaration during a meeting held at the Udaipur Circuit House.

In the meeting, various aspects were discussed, including preparations for the upcoming Diwali Mela, an annual event that draws a large number of participants from various regions, including other states and international visitors. The need for improved organisation and resource management for the temple’s activities was a focal point of the meeting.

Diwali Mela Preparations Under Review

The meeting reviewed critical areas such as administrative preparedness, traffic management, and security arrangements in relation to the Diwali Mela. Special attention was given to the logistics needed to accommodate the large influx of people expected during the festival. Ensuring the safety and convenience of visitors was identified as a top priority.

Additionally, measures were discussed to provide essential services, including adequate drinking water, electricity supply, healthcare services, and sanitation. The Chief Minister emphasised the need for efficient management of public amenities throughout the event, confirming that officials have been instructed to finalise all necessary preparations promptly.

Prominent attendees at the meeting included Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, MLAs Abhishek Debroy and Jitendra Majumdar, and Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha. Their participation underscored the collaborative effort among various departments to ensure a successful festival experience.

Significance of the Tripura Sundari Temple

The Tripura Sundari Temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas and holds significant religious and cultural value in Gomati district. It serves as the venue for one of the region’s major annual religious celebrations. The temple attracts thousands of devotees, fostering a sense of community and spiritual engagement during such events.

Chief Minister Saha reiterated that both the government and the Matabari Trust are committed to the ongoing development of the temple complex. This commitment aims to provide an orderly and secure environment where devotees can engage in worship and partake in festivities without concern.
