The Delta Airlines Plane 4819 carried 76 passengers and four crew members on a journey from Minneapolis’s St. Paul International Airport to Ontario’s Toronto Pearson International Airport. The hopeful news is that all 80 people on board were evacuated. However, at least 18 people, including a child, were injured in the crash and two others are said to be in critical condition.
The Toronto Pearson Airport said in a statement released on social media platform X, “Toronto Pearson is aware of an incident upon landing involving a Delta Airline plane arriving from Minneapolis. Emergency teams are responding. All passengers and crew are accounted for.”
The Government Speak
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a statement shortly after the plane crash and confirmed that at least 80 people on board the aircraft were evacuated. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will be in charge of further investigations.
The incident also saw comments from Canada’s transport Minister Anita Anand, who said that she was closely following the serious incident at Toronto airport involving Delta Airline flight 4819 from Minneapolis.
“All passengers on board are accounted for. Updates will follow,” said Anita in a post on X.
The actual cause of the crash and the plane, flipping upside down is still unknown and investigations are running.
