The CSR Journal Magazine

In a shocking incident in Dwarka’s Bindapur area, a 32-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly murdering her 62-year-old father-in-law inside their home. The retired Air Force engineer, Naresh Kumar, reportedly lost his life following a violent altercation over a long-standing property dispute.

The incident took place on the morning of December 27 at the family residence in Mansa Ram Park. According to police, the accused, identified as Geeta, allegedly pushed Kumar onto the terrace, sat on his chest, and repeatedly struck his head against the concrete floor before throttling him.

DCP Confirms Property Dispute Behind Father-in-Law’s Murder

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said, “Geeta was on the first floor. She stated that she had beaten her father-in-law, who is now unconscious on the roof. Naresh was immediately shifted to the hospital… The crime team and an FSL expert were called at the spot, who inspected and photographed the crime scene and lifted exhibits. During enquiry, it was revealed that there was a dispute regarding sharing of the property.”

The violent assault was witnessed by both Geeta’s four-year-old son and the victim’s 13-year-old granddaughter. The teenager told police that her young cousin alerted her, saying he was scared because his mother was attacking his grandfather. “When I rushed upstairs, I saw her on my grandfather’s chest, smashing his head on the floor,” she said. She immediately called her father, Kapil Kumar, who advised her to seek help from neighbours.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Western Range) Jatin Narwal added, “She confessed to her crime before neighbours and police. The murder happened over a property dispute. The woman wanted Kumar to give her a share in his property.”

Daughter-in-Law Threatened Family

Neighbours who intervened said that Geeta was shouting threats at the family, saying, “How will you now stop us from taking a share in the property.” Despite attempts to stop her, Naresh Kumar was found unconscious with Geeta still at the scene.

Naresh had lived in the house for three decades with his family. His wife passed away in August after a prolonged illness. Geeta and her husband, Parveen, who works in Hyderabad, had previously moved to a new property but returned to the old house following Kanta Devi’s death. Family members said Geeta frequently argued with Naresh over her demands for a share in the property.

Police have registered a case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Bindapur police station. Geeta has been remanded to judicial custody, and the investigation is ongoing, including the autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death.
