Delhi Traffic Police Imposes Road Curbs for Hanuman Janmotsav on April 1–2, 2026

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Delhi Traffic Police has announced specific traffic restrictions in anticipation of the Hanuman Janmotsav celebrations at Marghat Wale Baba Hanuman Mandir on April 1 and 2, 2026. These restrictions aim to manage the expected large crowds and processions. On April 1, traffic limitations will be in effect from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM, while on April 2, restrictions will be in place throughout the entire day. Commuters are advised to prepare for possible congestion during these hours.

Affected Roads and Streets

Several major thoroughfares in northern and central Delhi will be subject to traffic regulations or restrictions. Key roads impacted include Ring Road (from Shanti Van to ISBT Kashmere Gate), Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Marg, Lothian Road, Netaji Subhash Marg, Nishad Raj Marg, and Boulevard Road. Motorists should be aware of these changes when planning their travels.

Diversion Points

Traffic will be redirected at several critical junctions to alleviate congestion. At Rail Chhatta Chowk, vehicles might be directed onto alternate inner roads. Traffic at Subhash Cut will be rerouted to avoid congestion near the temple area. GPO Chowk’s traffic management will depend on crowd density, while vehicles at Kela Ghat will be diverted towards the outer Ring Road. Access to Iron Bridge will face restrictions, and motorists will be advised to consider alternate routes. Traffic at Boulevard Road and Lothian Road T-Point will be redirected to minimize delays. Controlled movement will also be in effect at the Ring Road near Monkey Bridge.

Advisory for Commuters

Commuters heading towards ISBT Kashmere Gate and the Old Delhi Railway Station are encouraged to leave early and allow extra travel time to account for delays. Non-essential travel in the affected areas is strongly discouraged. The authorities suggest utilizing the Delhi Metro and buses as alternative modes of transport to reduce road congestion and facilitate smoother travel during these busy days.

Stay Informed with Real-Time Updates

Members of the public are urged to stay connected with the official channels of Delhi Traffic Police for real-time updates, route alterations, and emergency assistance. Given the anticipated high volume of foot traffic, proactive planning and awareness of route conditions will play a crucial role in minimizing delays during the festivities.
