In a significant operation, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police arrested two wanted criminals during an encounter early on Sunday near the Urban Extension Road (UER-II) leading towards Qutab Enclave. The apprehended individuals have been identified as Bharat, also known as Manni, and Veeraz, referred to as Virodhi. Authorities have reported that both gangsters are members of the Vinod alias Vicky Sanyasi gang and are linked to over a dozen criminal cases.

Police Action Against Rising Gangster-Related Crime

This operation is part of a broader initiative by police to combat the rising activities of gangs engaging in extortion and firing incidents aimed at threatening victims. According to police sources, crucial information was received from a confidential informer regarding the whereabouts of the wanted suspects, who were implicated in a firing incident that took place in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bindapur. The informant indicated that the accused frequently changed their locations to evade capture.

Swift Response by Specialized Police Team

Following the tip-off, a dedicated team was organized under the leadership of Inspector Pawan Kumar, with important support from Sub-Inspector Raja Ram, Head Constable Amit Kumar, Head Constable Jitender, and Head Constable Manish, all working under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Bhagwati Prasad. The team had been actively engaged in tracking down the suspects linked to the aforementioned firing incident at Police Station Bindapur.

Details of the Encounter

The police established a strategic trap to apprehend the absconding criminals. When officers attempted to stop a scooter with two riders, the suspects fled towards nearby bushes. During the chase, Bharat alias Manni discharged a firearm at Head Constable Kumar, who fortunately evaded the bullet. In retaliation, Kumar fired a shot into the air to caution the fleeing suspects, which was followed by a second shot that struck Manni in the leg. Meanwhile, Veeraz attempted to fire at the police as well, but his weapon reportedly malfunctioned.

Background of Arrested Individuals

Authorities have revealed that Bharat alias Manni is a notorious figure with involvement in 15 criminal cases and was recently released from Tihar Jail on January 21. The police are continuing their investigation to gather further information regarding the case and the activities of both criminals.
