On September 17, 2026, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced a series of public welfare initiatives to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday. The events were designed to promote community engagement and encourage public service among residents. Among the prominent activities, a 108-Kundiya Hawan was conducted at the Khatu Shyam Temple located on GT Karnal Road. CM Gupta stated, “We have prayed for his continued dedicated service to the nation,” following the completion of the Hawan.

A substantial blood donation camp was organised, attracting thousands of participants from across the city. This event was intended to underscore the spirit of community service inspired by PM Modi’s advocacy for public welfare. In addition, Gupta took the initiative to become the first registered donor on the new government platform for organ donation, which was also launched on this occasion.

Introduction of New Support Platforms for Workers

In efforts to enhance support for labourers and workers in the capital, the Delhi government introduced the NaMo Shramik Kendra. This centre aims to provide workers with streamlined access to various government welfare schemes, ensuring that they can benefit directly from these initiatives. CM asserted that this would significantly support the state’s workforce.

The Chief Minister also announced a musical tribute created by school children in honour of PM Modi’s birthday, further engaging the youth in the celebrations. Evening activities included the lighting of lamps by residents, serving as a symbolic gesture of good wishes for the Prime Minister.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma extended his congratulations to PM Modi, characterising the day as a nationwide opportunity to express gratitude to a leader committed to the public good. He emphasised this as a day of reflection on Modi’s contributions and the success of various public service initiatives launched under his leadership.

Significance of the Day and Nationwide Observances

Additional activities scheduled nationwide include a ‘Sankalp Abhiyan’, which commenced on September 17 and will last until October 17. This campaign is dedicated to benefiting citizens through government schemes and wishes for PM Modi’s long life. Reports suggest a large scale of prayers and blessings being offered across the country for the Prime Minister.

Chief Minister Sharma referred to PM Modi as the “architect of a developed India,” acknowledging his vision for the country by 2047. He highlighted the progress made under Modi’s stewardship, stating that development has reached both rural and urban regions, positively affecting countless families.

Sharma noted that the initiatives introduced under Modi have fostered trust in governance and further empowered the youth. He attributed increased confidence in security and governance to the Prime Minister’s policies and the collaborative efforts of the “double-engine government” model.
