The Rouse Avenue Court in New Delhi has sentenced Rajendra Bharti, a current Congress MLA representing the Datia Assembly constituency in Madhya Pradesh, and co-defendant Raghubir Sharan Prajapati to three years imprisonment. This deposit was made for a three-year period with an interest rate of 13.5 per cent per annum. Instead of receiving the maturity amount at the agreed time, Savitri allegedly withdrew annual interest payments of Rs 1.35 lakh over a span of twelve years, violating the terms of the fixed deposit.
