Delhi Assembly Security Breach Linked to Missing Nephew Case

The CSR Journal Magazine

A security breach occurred at the Delhi Assembly when Sarabjit Singh reportedly drove a car onto the premises in an attempt to draw the attention of authorities regarding his missing nephew. The incident took place on April 7, 2025, at approximately 2:10 pm, when Singh forcefully entered the assembly through Gate Number 2.

Delhi Police apprehended Singh shortly after the incident, with the operation concluding when his vehicle was intercepted in Roop Nagar around 4:15 pm the same day. Upon arrest, authorities noted that Singh, aged 37 and a resident of Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh, was travelling alone and did not have any weapons in his possession.

Singh was subsequently charged with breaching the assembly’s security and was booked under attempted murder charges. Police confirmed that two other individuals were also in the car, but no links to the commission of any crime were established concerning them, although their interrogation continues.

Missing Person Report and Background Information

The reason behind Singh’s actions was related to his nephew, who has been missing since April 1, 2025. A missing person’s report had been filed at the Hari Nagar police station shortly after the nephew’s disappearance. Singh allegedly believed that a senior official at the assembly would be present to assist him in resolving the case of his nephew.

In a bid to navigate the unfamiliar routes of Delhi, Singh reportedly paid two taxi drivers Rs 2,000 to accompany him in his car and guide him after his assembly visit, as he had initially planned to proceed to Parliament. His family, however, claims that Singh is mentally disturbed; his wife has provided a medical prescription indicating that he is in treatment for these issues, which is currently being verified by law enforcement.

During his confinement at the police station, Singh exhibited extreme outbursts, notably shaking the metal grilles of his cell and causing disturbances. Police reports suggest that his behaviour may necessitate further evaluation.

Vehicle and Financial Background

According to police, Singh was driving a new Tata Sierra vehicle that he purchased in February 2025. His financial status is described as stable, as he is categorised as a financially well-off individual. This information contrasts sharply with his alarming behaviour during and after the incident.

Singh has undergone a medical examination, and he is scheduled to appear before the Tis Hazari Court in the coming days as legal proceedings continue. Investigating officers are actively reviewing his Call Detail Records (CDRs) to gather further information pertinent to the case and his interactions leading up to the event.

As investigations unfold, the police aim to provide clarity regarding Singh’s motives and his mental state at the time of the incident. This case highlights the ongoing concerns surrounding security protocols at governmental institutions and the gravity of mental health issues in connection with legal matters.
