Gorakhpur, India: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath laid the foundation stone of a 500-bed Powergrid Vishram Sadan (rest house) to be built at a cost of about Rs 45 crore at AIIMS, Gorakhpur on Friday. The rest house, which is being built under the CSR initiative of Power Grid Corporation of India, will be the largest in eastern UP and is expected to be completed by March 2027. The event was also graced by local MP Ravi Kishan and other dignitaries.
The new rest house will be built at a cost of Rs 45 crore and will accommodate up to 500 people. The project is being supported by Power Grid Corporation of India as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts. The facility will help patients and their family members who come from distant places for treatment at AIIMS Gorakhpur.
The Chief Minister expressed that the rest house will be a major step towards improving patient care in the region. “Two to four attendants come to hospitals with every patient and how inhuman it is when someone is forced to go out in extreme cold, torrential rain, lightning and blazing sun. Therefore, it is important that we first think about such people in a humane way who are connected here with the pain of their patients, but they have to bear an additional pain,” he said.
