CM Samrat Choudhary Launches Mineral Block Auction for Bihar’s Development

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary marked the commencement of the auction for key mineral blocks and the NMEDT workshop, organised by the Ministry of Coal and Mines, Government of India, at Hotel Maurya. The event featured the Chief Minister lighting a ceremonial lamp to kick off the proceedings, which was also attended by Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey, and Kadam Sandeep V, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Coal and Mines.

During the ceremony, Dubey presented the Chief Minister with a green plant, a shawl, and a symbolic gesture welcoming him to the event. According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the Minister of State expressed the significance of the auction event and highlighted its potential impact on the state’s development.

Focus On Sustainable Development And Heritage Protection

Chief Minister Choudhary emphasised the need for responsible utilisation of Bihar’s mineral resources during his address. He stated that a comprehensive study of the mineral blocks in the state has been carried out, reinforcing the commitment to safeguard historical and cultural heritage while advancing development projects. Choudhary referenced the contributions of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, noting that substantial infrastructure projects initiated since 2005 have necessitated the extraction of stones and minerals.

Choudhary reiterated that the state’s resources will directly benefit the citizens of Bihar. He announced plans for the commencement of mining operations on October 15 and reassured attendees that over 30 out of 44 surveyed coal blocks will be allocated prior to September 30.

In his comments, the Chief Minister detailed the progress of survey work in 28 of the coal blocks, confirming that the state is dedicated to completing this initiative within nine months. Tenders have been issued for a number of mineral blocks, with ongoing processes for others. He reiterated the state’s commitment to fulfilling these objectives efficiently.

Economic Growth Through Mineral Resource Management

According to the Chief Minister, Bihar’s budget currently stands at Rs 347,000 crore, with numerous essential development projects being fast-tracked. He pointed out the state’s abundant mineral resources, indicating significant deposits of limestone in Rohtas, a mineral belt in Aurangabad, and magnet resources in Jehanabad and Jamui, among others. He stressed the importance of optimal utilisation of these assets for the state’s advancement.

Choudhary highlighted that revenues generated from mineral royalties will be channelled towards the welfare of the people and the overall developmental agenda of Bihar. He committed to ensuring that mineral resources will not be exploited improperly and proposed the establishment of a mineral centre in the state. Furthermore, he set an ambitious investment target of Rs 5 lakh crore by November.

The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, and commended Dubey’s efforts to enhance the welfare of Bihar. He underscored the state government’s various concessions to encourage investment in industry and urged investors to consider opportunities in Bihar. Choudhary reassured potential investors of their safety and encouraged them to pursue their ventures with confidence, asserting that the government would provide extensive support.
