Chairman of Al-Falah University Arrested by Delhi Police in Alleged Irregularities Case

The CSR Journal Magazine

Jawaad Ahmad Siddiqui, the chairman of Al-Falah University in Faridabad, has been arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police. The arrest follows the registration of two First Information Reports (FIRs) initiated by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The FIRs are linked to alleged irregularities in the operation of the private university and affiliated organisations.

The local court has granted four days of police custody for further interrogation. Siddiqui was produced before the court shortly after his arrest.

Investigations Follow Delhi Blast Incident

Investigations into Siddiqui’s activities began in the aftermath of a recent blast in Delhi, which reportedly brought the institutions associated with him under scrutiny. Both Al-Falah University and the Al-Falah Charitable Trust, which are operated under the Al-Falah Group, became part of a wider investigation involving law enforcement and financial regulatory agencies.

Authorities began examining the functioning of the university and its affiliated trust for alleged financial misconduct and possible violations in educational governance norms.

Enforcement Directorate Files Chargesheet in Money Laundering Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also taken action by launching an investigation into alleged money laundering activities linked to Siddiqui and the Al-Falah Charitable Trust. The agency has submitted a chargesheet in connection with the case.

The Saket District Court in Delhi is scheduled to hear the matter on 31 January, where it will consider the ED’s chargesheet and arguments. The court had previously acknowledged the ED’s submissions and fixed the date for the hearing in the matter.

Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation

Delhi Police’s Crime Branch is continuing its inquiry into the case. Authorities are examining various aspects of the university’s operations, including admissions, infrastructure development, financial transactions, and regulatory compliance. UGC’s complaints reportedly form the foundation for the current FIRs and investigative developments.

The legal process is expected to proceed with detailed questioning during police custody and further judicial examination of the evidence submitted by both the Delhi Police and the ED.

Jawaad Ahmad Siddiqui remains in the custody of law enforcement for the duration of the court-approved remand, as investigations into the alleged irregularities continue.
