The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended Abhishek Kumar, regarded as one of the principal figures and a wanted suspect in the Mahadev Online Betting App case. His arrest occurred promptly after he landed from Dubai at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on Thursday. The investigation delineates Kumar’s substantive involvement in managing online gambling and betting activities linked to the Mahadev Book.

Kumar is alleged to have coordinated betting panels, gathered funds, and acquired properties in Dubai through revenue generated from these illicit operations. The CBI highlighted that incriminating evidence was discovered and confiscated during a search initiated immediately following his arrest. This material reportedly substantiates his significant role in the functioning of the Mahadev Betting App.

Connections with Main Accused Revealed

The investigation has brought to light that Abhishek Kumar maintained close ties with other key suspects in the case, including Saurabh Chandrakar and Shubham Soni. Following his arrest, he was presented before a local court in Hyderabad, which sanctioned a three-day transit remand for the CBI. Subsequently, Kumar was transported to Raipur, where he was again brought before a court and placed in police custody for an additional two days.

Previous actions taken by the Chhattisgarh government involved transferring thirteen First Information Reports (FIRs) registered across various police stations related to the Mahadev Betting App to the CBI. Consequently, the central agency has assumed control of the cases. Up to this point, the CBI has submitted eight chargesheets against one hundred individuals implicated in the case, including principal promoters, panel operators, hawala facilitators, and public servants affiliated with the Chhattisgarh government.

Ongoing investigations aim to locate other absconding suspects. The CBI’s commitment to deliver justice is evident as it continues to unravel the web of illegal activities associated with the Mahadev Betting App.

Efforts to Extradite Main Promoters Ongoing

The CBI has initiated measures to extradite the principal promoters of the Mahadev Betting App back to India to confront legal proceedings. Currently, seven Red Corner Notices and two extradition requests are in motion concerning the case. Extradition processes concerning two of the accused are already underway.

The agency articulated its determination to ensure accountability for those implicated in the unlawful betting operations and to track down the assets generated through such activities. As the investigation continues, the CBI remains focused on dismantling the entire network of the Mahadev Betting App and delivering those responsible to face justice.
