‘Can’t Live Without You’: Teen Attempts Suicide on Instagram Live in Maharashtra

The CSR Journal Magazine

A shocking incident unfolded in Maharashtra’s Akola district when an 18-year-old teenager attempted suicide while livestreaming the act on Instagram. The video, posted with an emotional farewell message referencing a failed relationship, quickly went viral and alerted authorities, prompting immediate action by cyber and local police teams.

Cyber Cell Helps Trace Location

The incident occurred on January 21, when the Akola Control Room received alerts from the Mumbai Cyber Cell about a live video showing a young man consuming poison. Based on digital tracking and video analysis, the individual was identified as Krishna Raghu Palvi, a resident of Burhanpur district in Madhya Pradesh. His location was traced to a remote agricultural field in the Dahihanda police station limits.

Race Against Time Saves Life

A search team led by Assistant Police Inspector Gopal Dhole launched an urgent operation involving police personnel, cyber experts, and local volunteers. Within minutes, the teenager was found unconscious inside a small hut in a field in Donwada village. He was immediately rushed to Akola District General Hospital, where doctors administered emergency treatment.

Condition Stable, Family Thanks Police

Hospital authorities confirmed that Krishna’s condition is stable and that he remains under medical supervision. His family expressed gratitude to the Mumbai Cyber Cell, Akola police, and local responders, crediting their swift coordination for saving his life.

Another Suicide Attempt Reported in Karnataka

In a separate incident, a 35-year-old man attempted suicide by consuming poison inside a local court in Mangaluru, Karnataka. The man was reportedly involved in a domestic dispute and had been summoned by police following allegations of attempting to strangle his wife days earlier. Instead of reporting to the police station, he allegedly consumed poison in court premises and was rushed for medical treatment.

Concerns Over Social Media and Mental Health

These incidents have renewed concerns over mental health distress and the misuse of social media platforms to broadcast self-harm. Authorities emphasized the need for timely intervention, counseling support, and responsible online behavior to prevent such crises.
