According to the preliminary police inquiry, a Swift car travelling from Laxmi Nagar towards ITO lost control near the PWD office and struck the road divider.

The car then crossed the railing and entered the opposite lane, where it collided with an Innova travelling from ITO towards Laxmi Nagar.

The Swift was being driven by 32-year-old Ashutosh Pandey. His wife and two minor children were also travelling in the car, police said.

The Innova was carrying Anil Jha, the sitting MLA from Delhi’s Kirari assembly constituency, and Karnataka MLA Abhay Patil.
