BJP Meeting in Gorakhpur Reviews ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ Initiative

The CSR Journal Magazine

Bharatiya Janata Party’s national general secretary and Uttar Pradesh in-charge, Vinod Tawde, recently conducted an important review meeting at the party’s regional office in Gorakhpur. This gathering focused on the preparations and the active roles of elected representatives in the month-long initiative known as the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’. The campaign is set to run from September 17 to October 17, and aims to engage citizens in various service-oriented activities.

Following the meeting, BJP MP Jagdambika Pal addressed the media, highlighting the significance of the ongoing programme. Pal mentioned that the initiative commenced on September 17, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. Activities planned for this month include blood donation drives and welfare distributions aimed at assisting the needy within the community.

Pal clarified that the purpose of the campaign extends to grassroots public service, with a specific emphasis on welfare initiatives targeting marginalised groups. Activities have included distributing fruits to hospitals and empowering skilled artisans with tools on Vishwakarma Jayanti. The drive also encompasses cleanliness efforts and visits to old-age homes as part of the service outreach.

Focus on Grassroots Engagement and Inclusion

A key aspect of the meeting was the need for outreach efforts at booths and ‘Shakti Kendra’ levels to engage with individuals who may be excluded from government schemes. Participants discussed strategies for assisting these residents in completing necessary forms to gain access to available services. This initiative reflects a commitment to inclusivity in local governance.

Uttar Pradesh Minister AK Sharma participated in the discussions and remarked on the importance of guidance received from both Vinod Tawde and the co-in-charge during the meeting. Their insights are seen as vital for aligning the party’s initiatives with community needs and expectations.

In a related discussion, BJP MP and actor Ravi Kishan Shukla stressed the critical role of grassroots communication in effectively conveying development initiatives led by Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He acknowledged the necessity to engage new voters and counteract narratives propagated by opposition parties.

Countering Opposition Narratives

The meeting also addressed the importance of countering opposing viewpoints, particularly those from the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress. Shukla pointed out that false narratives, including misleading AI-generated content, need to be confronted and clarified to the public. He criticized the SP, insinuating that they failed during their governance and are thereby projecting a negative image due to impending electoral losses.

In response to statements made by SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav regarding Modi’s birthday, Shukla characterised Yadav’s remarks as indicative of a negative mindset, revealing a sense of desperation within the SP. He suggested that such comments arise from a recognition of the party’s uncertain future in forthcoming elections.

Overall, the BJP’s ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ seeks to incorporate a wide range of service initiatives across the nation during this month. The party aims to use these activities not only to mark Prime Minister Modi’s birthday but also to reinforce connections with constituents and promote community welfare.
